Recipe: Toffee Apple And Bran Flake Cake
Making a cake has never been so easy - this caramel apple and Bran Flakes cake can be made in under 3 minutes and will satisfy any late night snack craving. And the best thing? You’ve probably already got all the ingredients you need... What are you waiting for?!
For The Sponge
- 35 g bran flakes
- 50 g soft light brown sugar
- 25 g plain flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla paste
- 2 tbsp caramel sauce
- 2 tbsp apple sauce
- 1 fresh apple
- 1 handful bran flakes
- 2 tbsp double cream (optional)
Make The Cake Batter
Put the Bran Flakes into a zip lock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them up (you could also use a food processor).
Combine the sugar, flour, Bran Flakes, baking powder, egg, milk and vanilla paste in a mixing bowl. Whisk it all up together.
Assemble The Cakes
Divide the caramel between two large ramekins (or mugs).
Spoon the apple sauce over the top of the caramel.
Pour the mix into the ramekins, cover with clingfilm and pierce a few times with a knife.
Cook The Cakes
Microwave one cake at a time for 1 minute (800W), until the cake has risen.
Slice up the fresh apple at the last minute and fan the slices out next to the cake.
Crush the Bran Flakes to finish and scatter them over the cake.
Pour over the double cream if you want and enjoy in front of the TV!
