Recipe: Chinese Scallion Pancakes

CHINESE SCALLION PANCAKES

A different, but tasty kind of pancake. Makes 3 medium ones

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour and some later
  • 1/2 cup hot but not boiling water
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 3 g spring onions
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp black Chinese vinegar
  • 1 tsp tahini paste
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

pout the hot water into the flour and stir in one direction with your chopsticks. Bring it together and knead it 3 minutes. Wrap in clingfilm and let it rest 30 min

roll it into a sausage and divide into 3 pieces. roll each out into a circle

brush with oil, sprinkle with sea salt and spring onions and roll into a sausage and that in like a cinnamon bun, tuck the end under

flatten with your hand first, then take the rolling pin and make a fine pancake.

toss into the oil and bake on both sides until you get some dark spots. Make the dipping sauce and serve
