Inspiring the Next Generation with The Country Trust
Through our partnership with The Country Trust, we have hosted ‘Food Hero Sessions’ in the Sorted Studio for children from underrepresented communities. These sessions give young people the chance to step behind the scenes, explore how food content is created, take part in hands-on food education games, and experience new tastes in a fun and engaging environment. It’s all part of our mission to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help the next generation feel excited about food and where it comes from.
Dear Ben, Leyla, Vicky and the Sorted team,
I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for hosting such brilliant Food Hero visits for the children of Moreland and St Luke's primary schools.
As you know, our programme supports children living in the areas of highest need, helping them understand where their food comes from through hands-on cooking and gardening experiences. The sessions you ran were so expressive of your love of food and community and couldn't have aligned more perfectly with what we do. They were thoughtful, engaging, and sparked real excitement – the energy in the room was visible (especially in the afternoon session - well done Ben 🙂 Hope you got a much-deserved rest afterwards).
The wheel-of-fruit game was such a hit, as was the opportunity to explore new and unusual fruits and considering where they came from. These are thing many of the children had never experienced before. Ben, your warmth and patience were wonderful. You made space for every question and comment, and your enthusiasm fired up their curiosity.
Getting to step behind the scenes of the Sorted studio was a huge treat, and one the children (and staff!) will remember for a long time. As soon as one of the schools left the teacher text me to say what a great visit it was.
Thank you again for your generosity, time and creativity. It really did make a lasting impact.
Kindest,
Kirsty
